Egyptrixx- The Only Way Up EP

Egyptrixx, a producer renowned for incorporating the sounds of House, Electro and Dubstep into his sound, has recently released a six track EP. 'The Only Way Up' demonstrates his original sound, and I think it's seriously worth a listen. He uses the same electro/psychadelic sound that was made popular in 'Battle For North America' and 'Hexagon Ya', demonstrating why he's another upcoming DJ in playing around with the dubstep-electro crossover sound. Click on the tracks for a youtube link to the songs.

Tracklisting:
1)The Only Way Up
2)Everybody Bleeding
3)The Only Way Up (Ironika Remix)
4)Everybody Bleeding (feat Shyvo - Kingdom remix)
5)The Only Way Up (Cubic Zirconia remix)
6)The Only Way Up (Cubic Zirconia instrumental)

Bowly

Vice magazine (from whom i stole the overly-arty picture) recently did a piece on Olivier Borzeix a.k.a Bowly, and I thought I ought to spread the word further.

Bowly was born in France but works out of Montreal, Canada. His sound has clearly been shaped by a number of different genres, including house, electro and dubstep. So he obviously appeals directly to my music taste. It's another one of those 'difficult to describe' sounds, as his myspace puts it- "2 Step/Grime/Tropical".

I'd recommend giving him a listen if you're into any of the above genres, or if you happen to be a fan of the kind of sounds put out by Pearson Sound, Joy Orbison etc.

Check out his myspace here
Mamina and Kapoor are two of his tracks that I'd seriously recommend giving a listen too. But they all show why he's one to watch for the future.

Synamatix- Revolution

Synamatix, a London-based up and coming DJ who takes it back to the basics when it comes to production, has recently released a new song. 'Revolution' is a simple dubstep track with some great samples from Gil Scott Heron's 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' and a powerful bass line, and it proves why he's been receiving a lot of hype. If you like this, then I reccomend checking out his bootleg remix of Olive's 'You're not Alone', which bought him a lot of recognition initially, placing him on a fair few rubadubdub mixes and dubstep pop compilations.

Doctor P

Doctor P is very good at what he does, jump-up bass driven dubstep. His sound is becoming increasingly popular, and I recommend listening if you're into that filthy bass-driven sound.

It's the kind of dubtep that inspires people to say " this is filthier than..... whilst...... your....." or "this is so dirty i just.....". He deserves to be big.

He hasn't released much yet, but what he has put out there has been widely praised by many dj's. Here are my favourite tracks:

Sweet Shop
Gargoyle
Time
Badman Sound

You can grab a free mp3 of Sweet Shop, which is one of my favourite dubstep tunes at the moment, here (right click, then save link as)

Listen hard.

Burial

Let's get started with the basics.

Right now this man is receiving a lot of hype and attention, not least because of the recent scramble to try and discover his identity. If you focus instead on the music, and not the man, then it's clear to see exactly why he's been receiving the levels of attention that he has. As one of the main artists on the famous dubstep label, hyperdub records, Burial is at the cutting edge of a direction that I personally would like dubstep to follow. It's difficult to describe exactly what this direction is, but it's certainly a million miles away from the wobbling bass lines that are usually associated with the genre. Instead he uses an electronic dance sound, keeping low tempo's and using extesive sampling. The original sound has received widespread attention, resulting in, amongst other things, a fantastic remix of Bloc Party's Where is Home?

Here are some of my picks from his released material, which I seriously recommend you check out.

Ghost Hardware
Bloc Party- Where is Home? (Remix)
Archangel
Forgive
Wounder

...If you like that then I seriously recommend that you check out his two albums that have been released this far, pictured below...
